Food Production Operative – Evening Shift

gap personnel are currently recruiting for a Food Production Operative to join a well-established food manufacturing business based in Paignton.

Our client specialises in producing high-quality, handmade desserts for wholesale customers. We are looking for a motivated and reliable individual to join their culinary production team, helping to ensure every product is finished to an exceptional standard before being frozen and prepared for dispatch.

The Role

As a Food Production Operative, you will play an important role in the final preparation and presentation of handmade desserts. Attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 11:30pm
Pay: £12.71 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete the final presentation and finishing of desserts before they are frozen and prepared for wholesale distribution.
  • Ensure products consistently meet high standards of quality, presentation and specification.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks, including mixing and cooking ingredients when required.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment.
  • Follow all food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve daily production targets.
  • Monitor ingredient and stock levels and report any shortages to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Manage your time effectively to ensure production deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach throughout the working day.

About You

Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, food production or manufacturing environment would be advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A genuine interest in food and food production.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good basic maths skills for measuring ingredients and portion control.
  • An understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices, or a willingness to learn.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work efficiently during busy periods.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • A reliable, motivated and hardworking attitude.
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities.
