Food Production Operative – Day Shift

gap personnel are currently recruiting for Food Production Operative to join a well-established food manufacturing business based in Paignton.

Our client is looking for reliable, hardworking, and motivated individuals to join their small team of packing operatives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in accuracy, quality, and teamwork.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm
Pay: £12.71 per hour

The Role

As a Food Production Packer, you will be responsible for accurately packing products and ensuring they are correctly labelled and prepared for safe dispatch to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hand packing food products into boxes.
  • Labelling boxes accurately according to product specifications.
  • Working towards order and dispatch targets and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Following instructions from the Department Supervisor.
  • Completing records and production paperwork accurately.
  • Safely lifting and moving products to and from storage areas.
  • Wrapping pallets securely and preparing them for dispatch.
  • Operating a metal detection machine.
  • Selecting and using appropriate stock in accordance with health, safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Checking stock for damage, faults, pest infestation and correct Best Before/Use By dates.
  • Rotating stock and ensuring products are used in the correct date order.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
  • Completing cleaning and equipment clean-downs at the end of each shift.
  • Following all food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures.

About You

Previous experience within a warehouse, packing or food production environment would be beneficial, but is not essential as full training will be provided.

  • The ability to carry out manual lifting and moving safely.
  • A positive, friendly, and proactive approach to work.
  • The ability to follow instructions and work to targets.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • A reliable and hardworking attitude.
  • An understanding of the importance of food hygiene and safe working practices, or a willingness to learn.
