Job Title: Manufacturing Operator – Wax Department
Location: Sowton Industrial Estate, Exeter, EX2
Employment Type: [Full-Time / Shift-Based]
Shift Pattern: 1st shift pattern- 07:00am-14:45pm 2nd shift pattern – 06:00am-14:00pm /14:00pm -22:00pm
Pay Rate: £13.49- £15.18
Overview:
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Operator to join our Wax department at Howmet, where precision, careful handling, and quality control are essential. This is a hands-on role that involves working with delicate wax components and contributing to the early stages of high-performance casting processes.
Ideal candidates will have a keen eye for detail, steady hands, and a commitment to safety and teamwork in a manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fine finishing and surface preparation of wax components with accuracy and care
- Handle fragile and detailed items gently to maintain integrity throughout the process
- Prepare, set, and load components for the next phase of production
- Work from technical drawings to ensure components meet exact customer specifications
- Carry out quality control checks, documenting any defects or inconsistencies
- Maintain a high level of attention to Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) protocols
- Collaborate within a small, synchronized team
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and optimized to support production goals and casting schedules
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as required to support team and departmental success
What You Bring:
- Experience in working with small, detailed components
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality results
- Ability to read and follow technical or engineering drawings
- A reliable, adaptable attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills
- Confidence working in a safety-focused environment, including near high temperatures
- A proactive approach to learning, continuous improvement, and problem-solving
- Previous wax or foundry experience is preferred, though full training is provided
