Job Title: Mill Operative

Location: Ledbury, HR8

Pay Rate: £15.31 per hour + £40 Attendance bonus per week

Contract: Temporary – Seasonal

Length: 10 weeks with potential to be ongoing

Start date: Mid-June 2026 until end of August 2026

Role Summary:

gap personnel Gloucester is currently recruiting for a Mill Operative to support our client based in Ledbury, Herefordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy production environment on a temporary, seasonal basis but with potential of become ongoing role. The role requires a high level of dexterity and the ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced milling process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a flexible approach to work to meet team-based work requirements.
  • Operate and maintain machinery
  • Observe and maintain safety levels with particular attention to machinery and electrical equipment.
  • Undertake training to meet food legislation requirements.
  • Follow set production programmes, understanding the importance of running to plan, to meet our daily production targets and the potential impact on customer service
  • To support effective and accurate product changeovers to ensure the production plan is met in full and on time
  • Checking fruit to make sure it is of a good standard
  • Recognising actual and potential hazards and taking the correct action/s to avoid accidents.
  • Cleaning, pressure washing the lines
  • Complete all the paperwork, handover for the processes carried out on your shift.
  • Maintain a strict level of personal and workplace hygiene
  • As part of a team manage time and plan the schedule of work
  • Work as part of a busy team, but also be resourceful and make independent decisions as required
  • Liaise and communicate with other teams

Skills & Experience

  • A strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work as part of a team and actively participate in team decision making
  • Show initiative, and work independently without supervision
  • Take on responsibility, and complete tasks set through to the end
  • Share and exchange information with others
  • Demonstrate a good level of English and computer literacy

Panama Shift Pattern:

Monday – Tuesday, 6am – 6pm

Wednesday – Thursday off

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 6pm – 6am

Monday – Tuesday off

Wednesday – Thursday 6am – 6pm

Friday, Saturday, Sunday off

Monday – Tuesday, 6pm – 6am

Wednesday – Thursday off­­­­

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 6am – 6pm

Monday – Tuesday off

Wednesday – Thursday 6pm – 6am

Friday, Saturday, Sunday off

Please note it’s a set requirement to attend these shifts, adjustments to the shifts will not be made.

Pay Rate:

  • £15.31 per hour + *Attendance Bonus = £40 per full week attended *(payable on the last week of assignment)

Start date: Mid-June 2026 until end of August 2026
