NHS Porter Band 2
Location: Monmouth, NP25 5BL
Pay Rate: £12.21 – £12.92 per hour
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Contract: Temporary – 1 month (strong likelihood of extension)
Start Date: Immediate, upon completion of compliance
Compliance Requirement: Enhanced DBS (Update Service highly advantageous)
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated NHS Porter (Band 2) to join the team in Monmouth Hospital. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth and safe movement of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility. You will be supporting clinical and non‑clinical teams to ensure essential services run efficiently and to a high standard.
This position is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, good physical fitness, and a passion for helping others in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients between wards, departments, and treatment areas.
- Move medical equipment, supplies, specimens, and records throughout the hospital.
- Ensure wheelchairs, trolleys, and other porter equipment are kept clean and in good working order.
- Support clinical staff with the movement of patients who may have limited mobility.
- Deliver items to wards promptly and maintain accurate handovers.
- Respond to urgent transport requests in a timely manner.
- Follow infection prevention and control measures at all times.
- Uphold confidentiality, dignity, and respect when working with patients and staff.
- Assist with general operational duties to support the wider facilities team.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a healthcare or facilities role is desirable but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS – an existing one on the Update Service is a major advantage.
- Good physical health and the ability to move or handle patients safely (training provided).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability, professionalism, and a compassionate approach.
