Job description

We are seeking experienced Employee Relations Advisors / Managers (Band 7 / Band 8a) to support a busy HR service within the NHS/public sector. This is an urgent contract roles (3 months initially) for professionals who can hit the ground running and manage a varied caseload at pace.

These will be based on site at Portsmouth hospital. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of complex employee relations cases including:
    • Disciplinaries
    • Grievances
    • Absence management
    • Performance/capability
  • Provide expert, pragmatic ER advice to managers and stakeholders
  • Lead on case management from start to resolution with minimal supervision
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, NHS policies, and best practice
  • Support hearings, investigations, and provide written outcome reports

Essential Requirements

  • CIPD qualified (Level 5 or above) or equivalent ER qualification/experience
  • Proven experience handling ER cases end-to-end, at pace
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law
  • NHS or wider public sector experience is essential
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Previous Band 7/8a experience within NHS organisations
  • Experience working within complex, unionised environments
