Paignton

Salary £55,000 + DOE

Full Time - Mon–Fri

The Company

A well-established and growing food manufacturing business is looking for a Production Engineer to join its engineering team at its site in Paignton.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment, supporting machinery performance, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

The role would suit someone with previous manufacturing or FMCG engineering experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking business.

The Role

As Production Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting production operations through planned and reactive maintenance activities, fault finding, and continuous improvement projects.

Working closely with production and technical teams, you will help maximise equipment reliability and ensure engineering standards are maintained across the site.

This is a hands-on role offering plenty of variety and the opportunity to make a real impact within the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production equipment
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns and reactive maintenance tasks
  • Fault find on electrical and mechanical systems
  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency projects
  • Help minimise downtime and maximise production performance
  • Work closely with production teams to resolve engineering issues
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems
  • Support health & safety and food safety compliance across site
  • Assist with contractor management and site audits when required
  • Contribute to improving engineering processes and site performance

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Electrical or multi-skilled engineering background
  • Engineering qualifications such as City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ or Apprenticeship
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG or food production environments
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices
  • Experience with CMMS systems would be advantageous
  • A proactive and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Flexibility required based on business needs
  • Occasional Saturday working may be required
