Timber Production Operative - Swansea
Shifts : Monday–Friday 7am–4pm (Friday 7am–1pm)
Pay Rate : £12.81 per hour
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Timber Operative to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing, handling, and preparing timber products to meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role involves operating machinery, carrying out quality checks, maintaining a safe working environment, and supporting the efficient operation of the timber production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate timber processing machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Cut, grade, treat, assemble, and package timber products according to specifications.
- Load and unload timber and materials using manual handling techniques and mechanical equipment where authorised.
- Perform quality inspections to ensure products meet company and customer standards.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete relevant documentation.
- Identify and report machinery faults, defects, or safety concerns.
- Carry out routine housekeeping duties and keep work areas clean and organised.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Support colleagues and supervisors in meeting production targets and deadlines.
- Assist with stock movement and inventory control as required.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, or timber environment.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work.
Desirable
- Previous experience within the timber, construction, or woodworking industry.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
- Experience operating saws, cutting equipment, or timber processing machinery.
- Knowledge of timber grades and products.
