Cleaner - NHS

About the Role

We are recruiting dedicated and reliable NHS Domestic Cleaners to work at musgrove Park hospital on a temporary to permanent basis. This role plays a vital part in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection control, and patient safety. You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive team, helping ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Carrying out routine and deep cleaning tasks across clinical and non‑clinical areas
• Maintaining strict infection prevention & control standards
• Cleaning wards, patient areas, bathrooms, corridors, offices and public spaces
• Emptying bins and ensuring waste is disposed of correctly
• Replenishing supplies such as hand soap, sanitiser, paper towels, etc.
• Following NHS cleaning schedules, colour‑coding systems, and safety protocols
• Using cleaning equipment safely (e.g., floor buffers, mops, vacuums)
• Reporting any maintenance issues or hazards
• Ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment at all times

Shift & Working Hours

• Rota-based work Monday to Sunday
• 5 days per week
• Flexibility required due to shift rotation
• Enhanced rates apply for evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (included within pay range)

Requirements

• Previous cleaning experience (NHS or similar environment desirable)
• Understanding of infection control and hygiene standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and time‑management skills
• Reliability and a strong work ethic
• Ability to pass DBS checks if required
