Team Leader – Food Production

Location: Chessington
Salary: Up to £42,500 per annum- DOE
Hours: 7:00pm – 7:00am
Shifts: 4 on, 4 off
Type: Permanent

Gap Personnel is recruiting for a Team Leader on behalf of a busy food manufacturing site based in Chessington. This is a permanent opportunity offering up to £42,500 per year for an experienced leader within FMCG/food production.

As Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of production operations, ensuring performance is delivered across Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SPQDC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage shift operations to deliver production targets and KPIs.

  • Ensure the manufacture of safe, legal food in line with GMP, Food Safety and Health & Safety standards.

  • Drive a strong safety culture and act immediately on any risks or incidents.

  • Plan and allocate labour effectively, including managing absence, overtime and agency staff.

  • Monitor line performance, yield and labour efficiency to control costs and improve output.

  • Coach, develop and motivate a multi-skilled team to achieve weekly targets.

  • Attend Tier meetings, report on KPIs and escalate operational issues where required.

  • Work cross-functionally with Technical, Hygiene, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth operations.

  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure the site remains audit-ready.

Experience, Knowledge & Capabilities Required

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership role managing small teams.

  • At least 2 years’ experience within FMCG, preferably food manufacturing.

  • Strong people management skills with the ability to build a positive, high-performing team culture.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders cross-functionally.

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Experience within ambient or chilled food production environments (advantageous).
