Join the NHS as a Night Call Handler

Gap Personnel is recruiting Night Call Handlers to support the NHS in Yeovil. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and rewarding service, helping members of the public by handling non-emergency calls during the night.

This is a temporary to permanent opportunity for reliable, customer-focused individuals looking to build a long-term career.

Shift Pattern

Week 1

• Wednesday: 10:30pm – 7:00am
• Thursday: 10:30pm – 7:00am

Week 2

• Monday: 10:30pm – 7:00am
• Tuesday: 10:30pm – 7:00am
• Friday: 10:30pm – 7:00am
• Saturday: 10:30pm – 7:00am
• Sunday: 10:30pm – 7:00am

This rolling two-week shift pattern includes weekend working.

Duties

• Answer incoming non-emergency NHS calls professionally and efficiently.
• Listen carefully to callers and gather accurate information.
• Record details clearly using computer systems.
• Provide reassurance and excellent customer service.
• Escalate calls where required, following NHS procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

What We're Looking For

• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Strong customer service experience.
• Good IT and keyboard skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Reliable, professional and able to work independently.
• Previous call centre or telephone-based customer service experience is desirable but not essential.
